Really Reflect today on Veterans Day

The Bravest Man I Know american-flag-2a

by Amanda Whitney

Fife School, Tahoma Washington

The bravest man I know, Is a man I’ve never met.

He’s a man who risks his life, To save a friend, Not only to save a friend, But to save a nation.

Risking his life, For those he does not know.

Stepping up, Leaving loved ones behind, So that somewhere, Someone else won’t have to.

He is a man who follows orders, Even though he knows he might die.

The bravest man I know – Is the man who would rather die, So one more person could go home To see his family again.

The man who stares death in the face, But never blinks.

The bravest man I know. Is the man who risks his life,

So one day the world may be a better place for his children. Or any man who goes against his biggest fear- DEATH – Just to save someone he loves.

The bravest man I know. Is the man who fights, So another man can have the taste of sweet freedom.

Not fighting only for his own benefit, But for many others all over the world, Fighting to make this world a better place.

That’s the bravest man I know.

Today – walk proud, think humble and gove THANKS to those who currently and previously served and dies so that we may have the opportunity to CHOOSE

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Time Change Offers Timely Reminder About Smoke Alarms

Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) -  When your clocks spring forward this weekend, the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department reminds you to also spring into action and change the battery on your smoke alarms.

“We are constantly reminding people to install smoke alarms,” San Diego Fire Marshal Monica Orton said, “and we always will. But it is at least as important to be sure that the smoke alarms you have are in good working order.”

Approximately 96 percent of the homes in the U.S. have smoke alarms. About 20 percent of those homes have smoke alarms with batteries that are either dead or missing. Almost two-thirds of the home fire deaths each year are in residences without a functioning smoke alarm.

“New batteries may be the cheapest protection you can get,” Orton said. “It only takes a few minutes to put in new batteries, and smoke alarms can save lives.”

It is recommended that you have a smoke alarm on every level of the home and outside every bedroom. Ceiling mounted smoke alarms should be at least four inches from the nearest wall. Wall mounted alarms should be four to twelve inches from the ceiling. Do not install smoke alarms near windows, doors or ducts where drafts could interfere with their operation.

In addition to regularly checking and replacing the batteries, it is important to know smoke alarms do not last forever. Smoke alarms should be replaced every ten years. Since 1999, smoke alarms have been required to print the date of manufacture, in a readable format. Prior to 1999, the date was often printed in a “code.” If your smoke alarms have coded numbers on the back or in the battery compartment, it is time to replace not just the batteries, but the whole alarm

WINDERMERE EXCLUSIVE PROPERTIES ANNOUNCES NEW OFFICE LOCATION SERVING SOLANA BEACH AND DEL MAR

WINDERMERE EXCLUSIVE PROPERTIES ANNOUNCES

NEW OFFICE LOCATION SERVING SOLANA BEACH AND DEL MAR

October 1, 2009 (San Diego, CA) – Windermere Exclusive Properties continues to expand throughout San Diego.  Their newest office, the highly anticipated location serving Solana Beach and Del Mar, is set to open soon. The office is located in Solana Beach at the corner of Lomas Santa Fe Drive and Cedros Avenue, and acts as Gateway into the exclusive Cedros Shopping and Design District.  The site is a stone’s throw from the water and will continue to attract more agents to the fastest growing real estate agency in Southern California.

“I don’t think any business could ask for a better location.  Solana Beach is such a great community and to be right on the edge of the 101 makes our new office that much more accessible for not only our agents but also potential clients,” said Steve Rodgers.

Over the past year Windermere Exclusive Properties has created a large footprint in the real estate market.  Many real estate agents have made the transition from a number of agencies, both small and large.  However, their previous locations did not offer their coastal North County agents an office to really consider home.  As a result, Windermere Presidents Steve Rodgers took to the streets in search of a new location.

The new location couldn’t be better as Windermere Exclusive Properties now offers agents an office to better serve Solana Beach and Del Mar.

  About Windermere Real Estate

Great Enthusiasm at the New Agent Expo at San Diego City College

Steve Rodgers, President of Windermere Exclusive Properties San Diego and Rich Johnson branch manager of the Rancho Bernardo office, spent the day this past Saturday at an annual Real Estate Expo which provided information and lectures to licensees in training. Hosted by the San Diego Association of Realtors/San Diego City College Real Estate Advisory Committee and held at the satellite campus of San Diego City college east of Downtown, the event was focused on providing potentially new agents a forum to listen to and meet representatives from different real estate companies and provided lectures and panel discussions from keynote speakers such as SDAR President elect Marm Marquez. “The turnout was impressive and to get a chance to see so many enthusiastic potential real estate agents was refreshing” stated Michael Rodgers, a Windermere team member. At one point Steve Rodgers began to talk to a handful of people at Windermere’s booth in the lobby and a few minutes later he had more than 20 people listening to him. San Diego City college offers real estate classes which taken in progression prepare students to enter the real estate market. There were people from all ages and walks of life and one gentleman was a retiree who had several new ideas for creating his own new real estate niche. Another was a 19 year old college student from Turkey who had many questions and was impressive with his accomplishments and future goals. For Windermere, it was an opportunity to provide value to the community. It was also a chance to talk to new agents and seek out candidates that would benefit and contribute to the enrichment of the company.
